    There’s no much new about these engines…they’ve been around for over 150 years.

    very cool idea to support us this way, thanks!
    how much power can you get out of this?

    Anything I type here is tweeted – how convenient

    The function of the displacer is to transfer the air from the hot space to the cold space. This sets up internal pressure cycle variations, which in turn drives the power piston in and out. A mechanical linkage links the power piston to the displacer and drives it at 90 degrees phase advance. Neat little solar engine – with a water cooled cold space and a glass jar (greenhouse) around the hotspace – it would really run well.

    @silverpizza100 No, it is actually “Stirling”, my friend

    @silverpizza100 stupid !

  7. derman077 says:

    @WhistlersBrother have you seen the ted talk dedicated to this concept? their design evolved to look like a solar tracking silver flower.

    i actually thougt that something would happend 3 min of my life wasted :(

    Don’t show this to the GOP (Giant Oil Party), they’ll crap their pants.

  11. jesusmendoza89 says:

    whats this engine’s rpm?

  12. jesusmendoza89 says:

    wow thats awesome, im planning on building one of my own as part of a project to generate electricy, you know using alternative energy sources, how can i build one???

  13. Jaikers1731 says:

    I have a natural gas boiler and radiant heat system but it still needs an electric pump to circulate the water. Is there a way to utilize something like this to run without electricity?
    Thanks!

  14. WhistlersBrother says:

    Wow, that’s really cool!! If hooked up to a generator, do you happen to know if this would be a more efficient way to generate electricity using solar power than, say, solar cells? Just curious if you could get more power output from the same patch of sunlight, or less?

  15. suicidewafflez says:

    @kawaiiushii For one example, they are used in sewing machines. Just anything that might need linear repetitive motion normally fixated on one position.

    i wanna get one

    Espero alguien se apiade de nosotros los hispanos y lo traduzca para aporvechar la informacion

  19. kawaiiushii says:

    im in the process of making a home made stirling engine for a school project but then my friends asked me whats the usage of it…honestly i dont know and i’d like to know whats the uses of these engines…

    I invented a breakthrough renewable source of energy that violates the law of energy conservation. I have a proof that there are phenomena that violate the law of energy conservation. I am looking for $6M for a prototype and patents.

    if ur living in a cloudy rainy area, just dig a hole deep enough to get some lava! Then it’s a done deal.

    @gesnarfel
    depends on the weight of the fly wheel the heavier and larger the fly wheel the more torque it will have. the harder it will be to slow down.

  23. gesnarfel says:

    What is the power output of the Stirling engine? Is there somewhere to get a blueprint of this sterling so that it may be built by experimenters?

  24. FreindlyRanger says:

    Wow, I didn’t know you spoke Irish. LOL.

    Is maith liom Vodka.

  25. Macisaur says:

    You don’t want that, it’s a waste of Vodka.
